ANCIENT TIMES

A long, long, time ago (oh, let's say, three years), in a galaxy not so far away, something unsignificant and unrelated to this site happened.

On this planet, however, this site was just being born under the name 'Digital-Nights.Net'.

About two years before I started DN.Net, I first discovered webdesign. This was around the summer of 2001, and I was addicted. I had stumbled upon the site DayDreamGraphics, a wonderful site filled with linkware designs and helpful tutorials. I deeply admired the designers on the site, and wanted a site of my own. I began a small pagebuilder site on Geocities, which sucked, to say the least; I was still learning. I joined the DayDreamGraphics Messageboard in late 2001, where I am still an active member. The group on that message board has become my online family over the four years I've known them, and I owe a lot of what I know about webdesign to them. In fact, I owe this domain to them.

While I was learning, I created a small site called Shadow's Whisper Graphics with my friend, Tori. We had a section for requests, which is how I met my buddy Jake. Jake requested a layout for his old site, ZoidsDestiny.Com. I made one for him, and we kept in touch, quickly becoming friends through MSN messenger and the DayDreamGraphics Messageboard, which, as it turned out, we were both members of. We ended up working as staff on each other's sites, him on Shadow's Whisper, and me on ZD.Com. It was fun! I moved my site to Fateback.Com. I reccommend them for anyone starting out new; they're a great free host. I began with two small sites on my new server, Shadows Whisper Graphics and Digital-Nights. Shadows Whisper soon crashed and burned due to lack of interest from the staff, and I was slowly losing interest in DN.

This, however, all changed when I received the most amazing Christmas present: A domain and hosting. Jake had bought me a domain and moved it onto his server to be hosted. Digital-Nights became Digital-Nights.Net, and quickly grew into my personal site. It took a bit to become ready, but on May 3rd, 2003, DN.Net went online. The site hasn't always been just a personal domain, however: DN.Net was a graphics site, a blog, a personal site, a web clique, a free hosting site, and so many more through the years it was alive. (I tend to have trouble making up my mind.)

Now, years later, here I am, same girl, same site, different domain. I'll always have a soft spot for DN.Net, but in May, three years later, Digital-Nights.Net had become a site and name I related to my youth. I had wanted to change names for a while, but had never got around to it until May of 2006.

So, there's the story of the site. DN.Net's book has been closed, and now a new one, Ayende.Net, has begun.
